Regular readers of the Intertown Record will know that my bi-weekly column is subtitled “Mixed Media: Notes From the Heart of Warner”. Why mixed media? In addition to writing about community events, my intention is to discuss books, poetry, music and films that have inspired and enhanced my spirit and imagination.
Two months ago I published a brief review of the Bird By Snow vinyl LP entitled “Songbread/Another Ocean” in the Warner Neighbors column. This LP was and is and will be my choice for most wondrous musical release of 2009 in any format. In Songbread/Another Ocean Fletcher Tucker creates songs and spaces that resonate within this fifty year old mountainman’s heart. His music delves into the depths within all of us and our connections with the natural world. We are nature and nature is us, and it is our path to find and be true to the song within, to honor the mystery in both the visible and invisible worlds.
Here are two songs from Songbread / Another Ocean for your listening pleasure. For more information please check out www.birdbysnow.com and support this visionary artist’s creativity.
